Expertise

We are a passionate and dedicated team of former nurses with many years of experience in both mental health and physical healthcare. We are now striving to improve quality of life for people in the local community who are living with dementia.

Katie Grigg, Founder.

Prior to establishing the Hub, my professional journey spanned 22 years within the NHS, with a predominant focus on Mental Health. The final seven years of my NHS career were dedicated to a specialised Dementia Team, nurturing my commitment to supporting individuals struggling in our community.

Motivated by the evident challenges faced by families and recognising the scarcity of community support, I was inspired to establish a service like ours and help plug the gap.

Facilitating support for families and collaborating with other organisations to bolster our community connections are crucial elements in our endeavor to reach as many people as possible. Sustaining our operations and broadening our outreach through these community ties and additional fundraising efforts enable my team and I to be there for those in need.

Kerry Finnigan, Lead Facilitator CST.

I am a registered mental health nurse with over 30 years of experience in healthcare, predominantly within the NHS. My chosen profession has given me a wealth of knowledge and experience which enables me to provide the best support possible for our members and their families. My background in nursing includes working in an acute/forensic environment, I was also a community nurse for child and adolescent services and I have many years of rehabilitation nursing.

I am the lead facilitator of CST (cognitive stimulation therapy) at the hub and deliver interesting group sessions allowing our members to discuss different topics that evoke conversations and memories. I am dedicated to making our member’s time at the hub as interactive and interesting as possible. The groups I run involve visual stimulation as well as discussion which benefits the memory and thinking skills of people living with dementia.
